About MATTR
At MATTR, we’re building a future where people and organisations can connect and share information securely, on their terms.
Our SaaS platform helps organisations issue, verify and accept digital credentials, bringing trust and authenticity to digital interactions. From established enterprises to web3 innovators, we enable our customers to build secure solutions that respect people’s privacy.
With roots in New Zealand and an established base in North America, we’re looking for someone to build on that momentum and turn market opportunity into lasting commercial success.
About the role
Digital identity is moving from pilots into everyday use, and North America is at the forefront. Governments are rolling out digital credentials, financial services organisations are tackling increasingly sophisticated fraud, and businesses are rethinking how they establish trust.
As our Business Development Manager for North America, you’ll be MATTR’s primary presence in the region, building the relationships, partnerships and pipeline that fuel our growth.
You’ll own the sales journey, from opening doors and shaping pilots to closing contracts and growing customer accounts. Taking a partner-first approach, you’ll position MATTR as the neutral, interoperable technology that connects the ecosystem, giving customers flexibility across providers and integration partners.
If you enjoy building a market, navigating complex deals and seeing your work translate into results, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and convert pipeline: Develop direct and partner-sourced opportunities across government, financial services, fraud prevention and identity verification.
- Own the commercial journey: Work with colleagues handling initial enquiries to qualify leads, establish clear next steps and progress opportunities through to signed contracts.
- Turn pilots into production: Shape proofs of concept and pilots, coordinate commercial and contracting inputs, and build a clear path to deployment.
- Develop lasting relationships: Own named accounts and partner relationships, creating account plans that support expansion, renewals and early identification of risks.
- Navigate complex buying environments: Support public-sector procurement, RFx and tender responses, and identify certification or compliance gaps that could affect a deal.
- Grow MATTR’s regional profile: Plan events and speaking opportunities that build connections and generate qualified pipeline.
- Bring the market into MATTR: Share customer insights and competitor developments to inform our strategy, messaging and product roadmap.
- Keep the pipeline credible: Maintain accurate CRM records, with a clear owner, value, close date and next step for every opportunity.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in business development or enterprise sales across North America, ideally within government, financial services, identity verification or fraud prevention.
- A track record of owning a revenue target and closing complex deals involving multiple stakeholders.
- A working understanding of digital identity and credentials, including relevant public-sector procurement and certification requirements.
- Experience generating business through partners as well as direct sales.
- The confidence and initiative to represent MATTR in the region, working independently and staying connected with a global team.
- Strong commercial judgement and CRM discipline, giving the team a reliable view of opportunities, progress and risks.
- A collaborative approach, sharing what works, contributing to playbooks and campaigns, and bringing in support when it matters.
- A few things that would help you stand out
- Established relationships across government, financial services, identity verification or fraud prevention.
- Hands-on experience navigating public-sector procurement cycles.
- Exposure to partner-led or OEM distribution models.
