Fork Union Military Academy, a Christian college preparatory military school for young men, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Varsity Football Head Coach. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for football, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to developing young men both on and off the field. At FUMA, athletics are an important part of building character, discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

Essential Job Functions and Requirements

• Manage all aspects of the Varsity football program (including directing the JV and Middle School teams) from recruiting through college placement.
• Provide instruction in football knowledge, skills, techniques, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Manage and direct scouting, recruiting, conditioning, videoing, training, and practice as directed.
• Support the Athletic Department in scheduling games per the Athletic Director's requirements (typically 8–12 total games and scrimmages).
• Be responsible for organization, distribution, inventory, and care of equipment and apparel.
• Communicate with families from the initial application process through placement and completion of the program.
• Create a competitive environment and positive atmosphere for student-athletes on and off the field, emphasizing sportsmanship, character, and leadership.
• Support barracks supervision and serve as a positive role model, demonstrating military bearing and the Academy's core values.
• Provide academic support for athletes and assist with program promotion.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Academic Dean.

• MFSAB (Minibus) Virginia state certification
• Weight-room supervision
• Concussion certification
• CPR certification
• Other professional development as offered by the Academy (e.g., Youth Mental Health training)

Work Schedule

On a normal day, hours are from no later than 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. These hours may vary due to athletic contests on weekends and during evening hours. The Head Coach is expected to be present at all Varsity football-related events and practices and is responsible for locker room and stadium field house supervision.

The Head Coach will coordinate with and support the Commandant's Department regarding Varsity and JV football players' behavioral performance and will serve on the Academy duty roster.

Athletic staff, including the Athletic Director, are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Educational Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree
