Lineage is the world’s largest and most innovative provider of temperature-controlled logistics solutions with +20,000 colleagues globally. At Lineage, helping to feed the world is more than a job – it’s a purpose we live by every day.
If you open your fridge freezer, up to 20% of the products you’ll see have passed through a Lineage facility. We support customers who keep our schools and restaurants stocked and supplied, as well as working with many of the UK’s leading retailers.
We are currently recruiting for a Transport Operator to join the Transport team at our Grimsby facility.
Shift Pattern Available: 4 on 4 off Days, 06:00–18:00.
Salary: Competitive

In this role you will:
- Monitor the day-to-day transport operations for the site.
- Help keep our fleet safe and legal by managing all aspects of vehicle and driver compliance.
- Liaise with Lineage depots and delivery points to ensure the smooth running of transport operations.
- Assign drivers and vehicles using the transport planning system.
- De-brief drivers and deal with any issues arising from deliveries.
- Manage delivery rejections, including temperature issues, damages and incorrect products.
- Create Goods Return Notifications (GRRS) for all delivery issues.
- Deal with vehicle and trailer breakdowns, ensuring issues are communicated and managed effectively.
- Complete UN invoice job reports.
- Manage the departure diary to ensure timely vehicle departures.
- Carry out scanning, indexing and filing of transport documentation.
- Complete invoicing and status reports.
- Manage day-to-day transport activities and operational priorities.
- Carry out safety observations and gate checks.

- Complete morning site walk-rounds to support trailer allocation and ensure operational readiness.
What we are looking for:
- Previous Transport experience.
- An understanding of driver hours and transport legislation.
- If you understand Transport Management Systems, that would be helpful – though a willingness to learn and plenty of initiative will take you far in our ambitious team.
- As a target-focused individual, you’ll be comfortable meeting tight deadlines. This also means that you’ll be a team-player who is keen to get things done.
- Good IT skills are essential. Excel, Word and Outlook are particularly important.
- Above all else, you’ll share our determination to keep our customers and colleagues happy, so a can-do attitude with brilliant communication and organisation skills is essential.
What's in it for me?
- A permanent opportunity with a direct employer; we will not employ you through an agency.
- Opportunity to develop a career within an industry-leading global company.
- Opportunity to earn an additional day of annual leave each year, up to the maximum of one extra week for length of service.
- Free onsite car park.
- Support your emotional well-being with access to a 24/7 employee assistance phone line offering confidential free counselling and advice.
- Preferential rates for loans and savings offered through exclusive access to a credit union.
