At Rethink Mental Illness, we believe that everyone severely affected by mental illness deserves expert support, understanding and hope.
We're looking for a highly organised and approachable Team Administrator to join our team. This is an important role that helps ensure our services run smoothly, creating a welcoming environment for people accessing support, training, and recovery-focused activities.
As the first point of contact for many service users, volunteers and professionals, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative support, managing enquiries, coordinating training activities, maintaining records and supporting the day-to-day operation of the service. You'll work closely with colleagues, volunteers and external partners to ensure people receive a professional, compassionate and responsive service.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys organisation, takes pride in excellent customer service and is passionate about supporting people affected by mental illness.
What you'll be doing
Acting as a welcoming first point of contact for service users, visitors and professionals.
Managing enquiries by phone, email and in person, signposting people to the right support where appropriate.
Providing comprehensive administrative support to the team.
Coordinating training courses, bookings, resources and documentation.
Maintaining accurate records and databases in line with information governance and GDPR requirements.
Supporting reporting, audits and service improvement projects.
Managing office supplies, resources and stock levels.
Working collaboratively with staff, volunteers and partner organisations to help deliver excellent services.
Who we're looking for
We're keen to hear from people who can demonstrate:
Essential
Experience in an administrative or office-based role.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
An understanding of confidentiality, data protection and GDPR.
A flexible, approachable and supportive attitude.
The ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
An awareness of mental health and recovery-focused approaches.
Desirable
Experience working within healthcare, community, charity or support services.
Experience creating promotional materials using Canva or similar software.
Experience working as part of a busy team environment.
About you
You'll be someone who values providing excellent service and enjoys helping others. You'll be able to build positive relationships with a wide range of people, remain calm when priorities change, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive team culture. The role may involve supporting people experiencing distress or vulnerability, so empathy, resilience and professionalism are important.
We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves and thrive. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly those with lived experience of mental illness.
