The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Reporting team at Cars.com, a publicly traded company. The role carries standard monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations, and executes and monitors the internal controls tied to those processes. The Staff Accountant also delivers clear financial information to business leaders to help the Company meet its goals. The role reports to the Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations and complete other standard monthly and quarterly close activities
• Execute and document internal controls over financial reporting (SOX) within the close process
• Support special projects as needed

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Accuracy and high attention to detail
• Ability to research and compile data from financial systems, databases, spreadsheets and other sources
• Working knowledge of financial reporting and financial analysis
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and urgent requests and adapt quickly to changing needs
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Positive, low-ego, can-do demeanor; approachable and energetic
• Strong verbal and written communication with all levels of management and external parties
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
• 1-3 years of accounting experience

Preferred

• CPA license
• Publicly traded company experience
• ERP experience with PeopleSoft and Quickbooks

 

 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position. In addition to base salary, some roles are eligible for our bonus and/or equity programs, depending on level and role. Regular full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive benefits package. If you are hired at Cars Commerce, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills and/or experience. Salary Range

$64,600.00-79,150.00
