Software Engineer (Java)

Job Description

Architect, engineer, and deliver enterprise-grade Java applications that drive business value and technical excellence. Lead end-to-end development initiatives—from requirements analysis through deployment and production support—while championing secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex business needs into robust technical implementations. Cultivate team capability through active mentorship, rigorous code reviews, and continuous improvement of development standards.

 

What will you do?

 

Application Development & Engineering

• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable Java application designs
• Architect and engineer solutions leveraging Java frameworks, libraries, and enterprise tools
• Build and optimise application modules and components in alignment with architectural standards
• Implement secure coding practices and enforce adherence to quality and security guidelines
• Develop reusable code libraries and frameworks to accelerate delivery and maintain consistency

 

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Execute comprehensive unit, integration, and system testing to validate functionality and performance
• Conduct peer code reviews to uphold quality standards and identify improvement opportunities
• Validate deliverables against completion criteria and technical specifications
• Drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies and automation practices

 

Troubleshooting & Production Support

• Diagnose and resolve application defects and performance issues across development and production environments
• Investigate root causes of system errors and implement corrective actions to ensure operational stability
• Monitor application health and proactively address potential risks or degradation
• Support incident management and participate in on-call rotations as required

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with architects, business analysts, and project managers to align technical solutions with business objectives
• Facilitate technical discussions and system integration activities to ensure end-to-end solution coherence
• Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and manage expectations
• Contribute to requirements analysis, design reviews, and sprint planning sessions

 

Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, API references, and system architecture diagrams
• Document code logic, configurations, and deployment procedures to support knowledge transfer and governance
• Update project artefacts and reports in accordance with delivery and compliance requirements

 

Deployment & Release Management

• Orchestrate system deployments, releases, and environment configurations
• Coordinate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth production rollouts
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and post-implementation reviews
• Support rollback and recovery procedures when necessary

 

Mentorship & Team Development

• Mentor junior developers through hands-on guidance, technical coaching, and career development support
• Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and upskilling workshops to elevate team capability
• Champion best practices in coding standards, design patterns, and agile methodologies
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning

 

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

• Singaporean (due to the nature of the project, only Singaporeans only be considered)
• 3-7 years of professional software development experience
• Deep expertise in Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Framework) and enterprise application development
• Proven experience in system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and agile delivery practices
