Software Engineer (Java)

Job Description

The Java Software Engineer develops high-quality software solutions based on design requirements, ensuring code quality, standards compliance, and timely delivery that meets business and technical specifications.

 

What will you do?

 

Software Development & Design

• Translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable program code
• Design, develop, and maintain application modules and components in accordance with established standards and methodologies
• Engineer efficient algorithms and data structures to solve complex technical problems
• Implement full-stack solutions using Java and related technologies
• Ensure all code adheres to programming guidelines, best practices, and security standards

 

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Develop and execute comprehensive unit test packages and document results to validate quality
• Support and participate in integration testing, system testing, UAT, and implementation activities
• Conduct peer code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency
• Validate that software and subroutines perform to specification

 

Configuration & Change Management

• Manage changes to configurable items including hardware, software, and documentation
• Execute configuration management planning, identification, controls, and audits
• Maintain version control and ensure traceability of all code changes

 

Issue Resolution & System Optimization

• Diagnose and resolve reported problems or bugs to ensure smooth production execution
• Investigate errors and root causes, initiating amendments and testing for optimal system operation
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective, timely solutions
• Optimize application performance through profiling, analysis, and targeted improvements

 

Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date system and technical documentation
• Ensure all deliverables comply with security guidelines, coding standards, and regulatory requirements
• Document test results, system specifications, and technical artefacts for governance and knowledge sharing

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate closely with team leads, architects, Business Analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders
• Participate actively in requirements gathering sessions and review functional specifications
• Align design and code with architecture standards and project objectives
• Communicate technical proposals and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

 

Qualifications

An ideal candidate possess:

Experience

• 1–4 years of professional experience in developing and delivering application software
• Relevant system development and maintenance experience using Java-related technologies

 

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java and related frameworks
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively and analytically
• Proficient in written and spoken English

 

Other Requirements

• Willingness to travel as required
