About the role
Position Summary
UFA, Inc. builds air traffic control simulation and training systems used by the FAA and the Department of Defense. We are hiring a Simulation Data Specialist II to support our ATC training programs. In this role you will enter, review, and validate large volumes of complex data across several software applications, GUIs, and databases. You will work with more independence than an entry-level specialist, catch and resolve data problems, and help the team improve how work gets done. Knowledge of aviation or ATC is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter, update, and maintain large volumes of complex training-related data in multiple software applications and databases.
- Perform quality assurance reviews and data validation; identify, research, and resolve discrepancies.
- Navigate multiple GUI-based applications, enterprise software, and databases with minimal supervision.
- Apply aviation or ATC knowledge (where you have it) to spot data that does not make operational sense.
- Report daily status and progress to the team lead, including issues found and how they were resolved.
- Work with internal stakeholders to improve process efficiency and workflow; help document procedures.
- Help train and answer questions from Data Entry Specialist I staff.
- Protect sensitive information and follow UFA and federal client security requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work on site in Germantown, MD at least 3 days per week.
- Advanced computer skills: comfortable across multiple applications, databases, and enterprise software, and able to troubleshoot common software issues on your own.
- At least 2 years of data entry, data management, or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust determination.
- U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of aviation operations, air traffic control procedures, or aviation training environments.
- Experience with database systems, enterprise software, or high-volume data entry.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
Position Term
This is a limited-term position. It is anticipated to end no later than March 31, 2028, and may end sooner based on contract needs and funding. Employment with UFA is at will, which means either the employee or UFA may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This is office-based computer work. The role involves sitting and using a computer and keyboard for most of an 8-hour workday, reading screens closely for extended periods, and communicating with team members in person and electronically.
