About the role
Role Overview
The Capture Agent team is responsible for building all features related to the use of ground robots to scan work-sites, undertake inspections, and capture data. We’re hiring a Senior Engineer to develop the on-robot and cloud software that lets those navigate and complete missions on sites with minimal human supervision.
The Capture Agent team is breaking new ground in the global adoption of robotics, providing world-leading features for the use of robots in industry. We value initiative, innovation, and people with a strong sense of ownership. Join a team of motivated and talented engineers, and provide an essential set of skills for building the future of how robots, people, and the real world interact.
Don’t worry if you don’t meet every requirement. If your strengths align with some of these areas, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities
- Analysis, architecture, development, testing and maintenance of the autonomy software running on robots and other edge devices, including localization, navigation, path planning and trajectory generation.
- Development of software solutions for remote monitoring, control, management, orchestration, mission planning and diagnostics of ground robots.
- Deploying autonomous robots on customer sites, supporting those deployments over an extended period, and feeding what is learned in the field back into the autonomy stack.
- Working with leading technology companies to support new robot products.
- Championing new robotics features and applications both internally and externally, including through documentation, training, and advocacy.
- Working with customers to build new capabilities, deliver proof-of-value projects and support remote mobile robotics applications.
Requirements
- A four-year engineering degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Industry experience in designing and delivering automation for ground robots.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using AI-powered development tools and autonomous coding agents to improve engineering productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
- Field test experience deploying autonomous robots on site, and supporting deployments over an extended period.
- Extensive professional software development experience including software architecture and design best practices; software lifecycle management using modern tooling; software testing and debugging.
- Experience in programming languages such as Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, C/C++, and Python.
- Demonstrated experience with localization and navigation for autonomous mobile robots, including path planning and trajectory generation.
- Experience leveraging modern simulation tooling to support autonomy development.
- Strong understanding of data analysis and machine learning, including dataset preparation, feature engineering, cross-validation, and model evaluation, preferably with experience in computer vision. Experience developing custom neural networks or machine learning models is a plus.
- Experience with robotics software frameworks such as ROS/ROS2, MQTT, MAVlink, gRPC/Protobuf.
- Be technically conversant in a wide range of other mechatronics disciplines such as parametric CAD design and prototyping, multilayer mixed-signal PCB design, AVR/PIC/ARM microcontroller programming, and industrial instrumentation and automation.
- Occasionally required to be on-call to support international customers during site deployments or calls across US and European time zones.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally; the role may involve a small amount of international travel to visit customer sites and robots.
