About the role
As the Senior HR Generalist, you will perform complex human resources duties at a professional level, supporting leaders and employees through recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and everyday HR questions. You'll work closely with the Talent & HR Services Manager, hiring managers, and organizational leaders to develop recruitment strategies, guide employee relations situations, and deliver HR solutions that support the credit union's short- and long-term talent objectives.
Drawing on your HR generalist experience and strong project management skills, you'll also contribute to projects within and outside of Human Resources, support our employee listening programs, and serve as a subject matter expert on HR topics — all while ensuring compliance with employment laws and centering the employee and member experience.
As the Senior HR Generalist with CFCU, you will:
- Be a trusted HR partner. Support leadership, management, and employees across the organization with HR-related questions, issues, and projects.
- Shape our recruitment strategy. Partner with the Talent & HR Services Manager and organizational leaders to develop and implement recruitment strategies and processes that achieve short-term and long-term staffing and talent objectives.
- Source and select great talent. Work with the HR team and hiring managers to source candidates, understand the skills and competencies needed for openings, develop interview guides, and ensure hiring follows state, federal, and CFCU guidelines. Review and provide feedback to managers during the pre-hire process, and participate in interviews and skills assessments as requested.
- Stay ahead of recruiting trends. Serve as a subject matter expert on recruiting trends and emerging sourcing strategies, solutions, and technology.
- Maintain job descriptions and role structure. Draft, review, revise, and update job descriptions in accordance with CFCU standards, and participate in periodic reviews of current roles, salary grade placement, FLSA designation, and EEO categories.
- Welcome new employees. Assist with planning effective and informative new employee onboarding and orientation sessions.
- Train and develop leaders. Conduct interview skills and other HR-related training for new managers, with refresher training as needed, and complete New Leader Assimilation activities with newly hired or newly placed managers.
- Support performance processes. Assist in designing, implementing, and providing training for annual and periodic performance processes, such as annual self-assessments.
- Listen to our employees. Assist in designing and delivering solutions for our employee listening program, including the annual engagement survey. Analyze results, prepare and present dashboards, and identify potential action items.
- Drive improvement and change. Research and recommend new programs, tools, approaches, policies, and procedures that improve the efficiency of the department and its services. Work closely with HR leadership on change control, organizational change, process documentation, and training efforts, and support cross-functional projects.
- Keep our policies current. Assist in updating policies and the employee guidebook.
- Guide employee relations and offboarding. Provide support and guidance to leaders and employees on employee relations situations, and perform offboarding activities, including exit interviews and separation meetings.
- Advise on sensitive matters. Provide guidance to CFCU leadership and the HR team when complex, specialized, or sensitive questions and issues arise.
- Ensure compliance. Maintain responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including wage and hour, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, EEO, unemployment compensation, and workers' compensation. Participate in audits, compliance reporting, and other employee-related inquiries.
We are looking for a combination of:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of HR Generalist experience in a multi-site environment.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or other relevant certification is a plus, but not required.
