About the role
Jeppesen ForeFlight is a leading software development organization based in Gothenburg, specializing in advanced resource management and optimization solutions for the global aviation industry. Our products support some of the world’s largest airlines, and we are committed to continuous improvement and delivering measurable value to our customers.
At our centrally located Gothenburg office, you will join a unique software development environment where your work has real-world impact. You’ll be part of an agile, learning-focused organization alongside talented, creative, and dedicated colleagues. With over 400 professionals representing more than 50 nationalities, we offer a truly international workplace, combined with opportunities to collaborate globally with customers and teams. Most importantly, you will be empowered to make a meaningful difference.
Do you get real satisfaction from making software reliable — and from being the person who sets the direction on quality, not just doing the testing? We're looking for a senior developer who will OWN our Tracking team's quality and test strategy, raise the bar, and bring the team with them. You stay hands-on in code, but your real mark is leading on quality.
Who you are
Think T-shaped, with a lead edge: broad, dependable software-development skills and real depth in testing and quality — and the seniority to drive it. You see where quality needs to go, set a clear strategy, and get developers, product owners and architects aligned behind it. You lead by bringing people along, not by taking over.
What you'll do
- Own and drive the team's quality and test strategy — set the direction, raise the bar, and be the model for how we build quality in.
- Partner with product owners and architects to shape scope and quality trade-offs, and represent the team's quality position.
- Actively probe and stress the product to find weaknesses early — treat breaking it as part of building it.
- Stay hands-on: develop and maintain software in Java/Spring Boot with a strong emphasis on testability.
- Design and improve automated tests across layers (unit, integration, API, end-to-end) and in CI/CD; strengthen CI for fast, reliable feedback.
- Contribute to frontend in Eclipse RCP (environment also includes Angular/React); work with AWS and Kubernetes-influenced delivery.
- Mentor and lift the team's testing maturity; join the 24/7 on-call rotation (~1 week every 6–8 weeks).
What we're looking for
- A proven track record of OWNING and DRIVING a team's test/quality strategy — setting direction, not just executing someone else's plan.
- Senior-level presence: able to influence and align POs and architects, and bring people along with clear, confident communication.
- Senior software-development experience with Java (preferably Spring Boot); still genuinely hands-on (T-shaped).
- Deep test-automation experience across levels (unit, integration, API, E2E) and strong CI/CD.
- Production experience with AWS; awareness of Kubernetes-based pipelines; good Python and strong Linux.
- Comfortable with a 24/7 on-call rotation.
It's a plus if you also have
- Experience as a test lead / test architect setting quality strategy for a team.
- Built internal test frameworks or tooling; Kubernetes/Helm; observability & reliability thinking; AI in testing/quality.
Good to know
This isn't a role for a strong hands-on tester who waits for direction — it's for someone who sets it. You'll lead on quality in a collaborative fullstack team where your judgement shapes how we build, test and release.
Apply via the posting or reach out directly — we review on a rolling basis and move quickly for the right person.
