Are you a passionate BCBA looking to lead transformative behavioral health services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)? The Senior BCBA of Behavioral Health presents a unique opportunity to serve as a clinical leader across hospital, crisis, and community-based settings, helping bridge the gap between acute healthcare and long-term behavioral support.
At Upstate Caring Partners, the Senior BCBA of Behavioral Health provides leadership and oversight of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services across our behavioral health programs, crisis services, and hospital-based initiatives. This role works collaboratively with medical professionals, behavioral health clinicians, crisis teams, and community providers to improve outcomes for individuals with IDD and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
Why This Role Matters
This position goes beyond traditional ABA service delivery. As a senior clinical leader, you will help shape behavioral health practices across multiple service settings while improving continuity of care for individuals experiencing behavioral and psychiatric crises. Your work will help:
- Reduce avoidable emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and readmissions.
- Improve identification and support of individuals with IDD in healthcare and crisis settings.
- Advance evidence-based, person-centered behavioral care across programs.
- Strengthen collaboration between behavioral health, medical, and crisis response teams.
- Develop clinical standards, staff competencies, and quality outcomes across service lines.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight of ABA services across outpatient behavioral health programs, crisis stabilization services, mobile crisis teams, hospital partnerships, and related initiatives.
- Establish standards for behavioral assessment, treatment planning, intervention strategies, clinical documentation, data collection, and outcome measurement.
- Identify and assess individuals with IDD in emergency departments, inpatient units, crisis stabilization programs, and mobile crisis settings.
- Deliver functional behavioral assessments, crisis intervention, and behavioral consultation in high-acuity environments.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, social workers, and crisis clinicians to develop integrated treatment plans and behavior support strategies.
- Develop and deliver staff training on evidence-based behavioral interventions, crisis prevention, de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and treatment integrity.
- Assist with discharge planning and ensure seamless transitions between healthcare and community-based services.
- Monitor clinical quality indicators, analyze outcomes data, and recommend program improvements.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and professional development support to BCBAs, RBTs, and assigned clinical staff.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and complex behavioral needs.
- Strong clinical leadership, communication, consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions in hospital, crisis, and community-based settings.
- Valid New York State Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA).
