About the role
ABOUT DI
At Dimensional Innovations (DI), we’re Designers, Makers, Engineers, Developers, Strategists and Innovators working together to create remarkable experiences, places and products.
Our work lives at the intersection of design, technology and fabrication. From immersive brand experiences and interactive technology to sports venues, museums, corporate environments and destinations, we bring big ideas to life—all under one roof at our Kansas City headquarters.
And now, there’s another thing that makes DI different: we’re employee-owned. As an ESOP company, our people have a shared stake in what we’re building and where we’re going.
ABOUT OUR SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
At DI, an internship isn't about sitting on the sidelines.
Our summer interns become part of the team and have the opportunity to contribute to real client projects and business initiatives alongside professionals in their field. You'll see how ideas and opportunities move from an initial conversation to strategy, design, development, fabrication and installation—and how different disciplines come together to create something remarkable.
Throughout the summer, you'll build practical skills, learn from experienced mentors, make connections across DI and leave with meaningful experience you can take back to school and into your career.
You'll work hard, learn a lot and have some fun along the way.
SALES INTERN ROLE SUMMARY
Every remarkable DI project starts somewhere—and often, it starts with a conversation.
As a Sales Intern, you'll work alongside DI's Sales and Client Development teams to learn how we identify potential clients, uncover new opportunities, build relationships and turn an initial connection into a project worth pursuing.
You'll gain hands-on experience with the business development process by researching companies and projects, identifying prospective clients and decision-makers, supporting outreach efforts and learning how our teams determine whether an opportunity is the right fit for DI.
You'll also get a front-row seat to how Sales partners with Marketing, Design and other teams to tell DI's story and connect what we do with the challenges our clients are trying to solve.
If you're interested in business, relationship-building, strategy and what happens before a big project ever makes it to the drawing board, this internship will give you a look behind the scenes.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE DI
Real work. You'll research real companies, explore real opportunities and support actual business development efforts—not work through hypothetical sales exercises.
See where the projects begin. Before a DI project reaches our designers, engineers or fabricators, someone has to find the opportunity and start the relationship. You'll get an inside look at that very first stage.
Learn more than how to "sell." You'll develop skills in research, communication, relationship-building, strategy, technology and understanding what clients actually need.
Sell something worth talking about. You'll learn how to represent a company creating experiences for industries like sports, corporate, healthcare, museums and entertainment—and you'll be surrounded by examples of what DI can do.
See what you're selling. With Design, Technology, Engineering and Fabrication under one roof, you can walk through DI and see the kinds of experiences you're helping introduce to prospective clients.
Learn the tools of modern sales. You'll gain exposure to CRM technology, prospecting tools, AI-assisted research and the processes professional sales teams use to build and manage a pipeline.
Build your professional confidence. From outreach and research to meetings and presentations, you'll have opportunities to practice communicating with professionals and representing a business.
Built-in mentorship. You'll work alongside experienced Sales and Client Development professionals who can help you understand the business development process and develop your own communication style.
Employee-owned. DI is an ESOP company, which means our employees share in the success of the company and bring an owner's mindset to the work we do.
A summer that's more than work. You'll also have opportunities to connect with fellow interns and DI employees through intern events, activities and experiences throughout the summer.
