Qualifications

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to incarcerated patients within the appropriate scope of practice. Working collaboratively with the Director of Nursing, nursing supervisors, medical providers, and correctional staff, the RN assesses and responds to patients' physical, psychological, and healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments and monitor changes in patient conditions.

• Administer medications and prescribed treatments.

• Respond to medical emergencies and urgent patient needs.

• Provide ongoing care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.

• Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health professionals, and correctional staff.

• Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation.

• Follow established infection prevention, clinical safety, and correctional security protocols.

• Support continuity of care through patient education, communication, and care coordination.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing or higher from an accredited nursing program.

• Active, unrestricted Georgia RN license or applicable multistate compact RN license.

• Current CPR/BLS certification.

• At least one year of RN experience.

• Medical-surgical, emergency department, behavioral health, or correctional nursing experience preferred.

• Ability to successfully complete required background screening and facility security clearance.

Prior correctional nursing experience is preferred but not required.
