Description of the Team/Project
The Device Physics team works on the development and optimisation of quantum computing architectures, including the Spin-Photon Optical Quantum Computing (SPOQC) architecture.
We are looking for a motivated intern to investigate the energy cost of quantum operations within the SPOQC architecture. The internship will focus on analysing the trade-off between the computational performance and energy consumption, using recently developed models of the architecture's energetics and noise. The results will be applied to simple quantum algorithms and computational tasks to explore the potential emergence of a quantum energy advantage.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in Device Physics group meetings and meet regularly with supervisors.
- Develop an understanding of existing methods for calculating the energy cost of quantum computing in the spin-optical architecture.
- Develop numerical simulations and analytical descriptions of the energy costs associated with qubit operations.
- Apply the developed models to simple quantum algorithms and computational tasks to investigate the potential emergence of quantum energy advantage.
