Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Bring your construction, installation, or field operations project management experience to commercial workplace projects. As Project Manager, you will plan and coordinate furniture installations and relocations from initial estimating through final closeout. This role focuses on the physical delivery and installation of workplace furnishings—not information technology or software implementations. You will develop labor budgets, define the scope of work, schedule internal crews and subcontractors, track product, oversee installation activities, and ensure punch-list completion. Working closely with Sales and Design, you will communicate directly with clients or the project leaders responsible for the overall project.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Estimating and preinstallation planning
· Develop labor estimates and budgets from project quotes and drawings using the Excel Labor Estimate Worksheet (LEW).
· Participate in project planning and design meetings to help define the scope of work and installation approach.
· Schedule installation crews and other resources to align with labor budgets and project timelines.
· Keep clients and internal teams informed before, during, and after installation.
· Coordinate internal teams and subcontractors, including installers, movers, electricians, and voice and data specialists, as required by the installation scope.
· Review project plans and schedules with building managers, and coordinate site access, service elevators, loading docks, and parking for installation crews and deliveries.
· Identify, assess, and manage project risks that could affect installation, schedules, budgets, or customer satisfaction.
Installation and field coordination
· Schedule and adjust crews and resources as project needs change.
· Track product orders with account coordinators and address shipping discrepancies, receiving issues, and product damage.
· Prepare installation packets with approved plans, schedules, correspondence, installation worksheets, and delivery tickets.
· Anticipate installation obstacles and coordinate solutions to support on-time, within-budget completion, customer satisfaction, and dealership profitability.
· Conduct project-site visits and provide daily updates on installation progress, resource needs, and issues affecting completion.
· Review final furniture plans to confirm installation requirements.
· Oversee installation activities, resolve project issues, and ensure crews follow customer site protocols and safety requirements.
Project closeout
· Lead final walk-throughs, serve as the installation point of contact, and coordinate completion of punch-list items.
· Reconcile estimated project costs with actual costs.
· Participate in post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future installations.
Requirements
WHAT YOU BRING
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Five years of experience in office furniture project management or equivalent management experience in construction, commercial interiors, installation, relocation, or field operations involving crew scheduling, labor budgets, subcontractor coordination, and on-site project delivery required.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and project priorities.
· Ability to read and interpret installation drawings.
· Computer literacy skills (Microsoft office and Hedberg system)
· Effective communication - oral, written and phone skills.
· Excellent organizational skills
