About the role
Occupational Therapist | Community NDIS
Location: Sydney, NSW (Miranda area, with mobile work across home, school and community settings)
The role
Plenty of NDIS roles leave you working in a corner of a very large organisation. This is a smaller, close knit multidisciplinary practice where OTs work alongside speech pathologists, physios, psychologists and support coordinators, so you can pick up the phone to the person next door instead of writing a referral. The practice sees people of all ages and meets them where it suits them: in the clinic, at home, at school, at a day program or in the community. This is a permanent role, and the practice isn’t taking on contractors at this stage.
What you’ll be doing
- Individualised OT for children, adults and older people, built around each person’s goals
- Assessments, therapy plans and clear progress reports for NDIS participants
- Work to build independence, daily living skills and community participation
- Support for participants and families going through life transitions, including school to work
- Working with the practice’s other clinicians and support coordinators, so each person gets joined up care
- Home, school and community visits as well as clinic based sessions
What’s on offer
- Permanent employment, with the security of a stable team
- A culture built on kindness, integrity and respect, where staff and participants are valued
- Ongoing training and support to keep your skills growing
- Encouragement to build your career with the practice, with room to develop your own interests
- A focus on work life balance
- A collaborative team of allied health professionals across several disciplines
- A southern Sydney base, with mobile work out to participants
About you
- Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience with NDIS participants is helpful, and enthusiasm for the work matters more than years
- Comfortable travelling to participants’ homes, schools and community locations, with a current driver’s licence
- Warm, organised and a clear writer of reports
- Full Australian working rights
- Willingness to complete NDIS Worker Screening and a Working With Children Check
Locations
- Miranda: a busy southern Sydney hub with a large shopping centre, a train line to the city and good access to the coast and national park.
