About the role
Medical Technologist I
JOB DUTIES:
- Performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times; prioritizes tasks appropriately.
- Handles specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptable
specimens and specimens for transport to reference labs.
- Records and reports testing data according to department guidelines.
- Performs and records required quality assurance/control data, recognizes outliers and takes corrective action as necessary
- Performs and reports proficiency tests as assigned
- Observes and abides by all mandated safety policies in performing duties.
- Performs instrument troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as required and/or assigned.
- Observes reagent and supply inventories, including expiration dates and reports re-order needs to the supervisor or person responsible for supply ordering.
- Performs phlebotomy duties as needed.
- Performs specimen triage duties as needed
- Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies.
- Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner.
- Interacts with and assists with training of students in the laboratory.
- Performs additional duties as assigned
