Description
About KIPP Northern California
We are a thriving nonprofit network of free, public charter schools open to all students. At KIPP, we believe all children should grow up free to create the future they want for themselves and that schools can and should be a critical factor in making that vision a reality. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
Our 7,000+ elementary, middle, and high school students across East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San José, Redwood City, and Stockton represent the rich diversity of our region. We strive to build a team of educators whose backgrounds and experiences reflect those of our students and families.
Role Overview
KIPP NorCal teachers create joyful, inclusive, and academically rigorous classrooms where all students are challenged, supported, and empowered to succeed. Teachers deliver standards-aligned instruction, use evidence of student learning to strengthen their practice, and build strong relationships with students and families. Collaborate with relevant staff to implement applicable student learning plans and ensure students receive appropriate instructional supports.
Assessment & Student Learning
Establish clear learning goals and use checks for understanding, student work, and assessments to monitor progress toward grade-level expectations.
Analyze evidence of student learning to adjust instruction, address learning gaps, and provide timely, actionable feedback.
Maintain accurate and timely student records, including attendance, grades, and other required documentation, to support student progress and school operations.
Classroom Culture & Student Belonging
Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and intellectually engaging classroom community grounded in belonging, high expectations, and positive relationships.
Integrate culturally responsive teaching, Social Emotional Learning, and restorative practices to support student development and a positive learning environment.
Establish and reinforce clear routines and expectations that promote student safety, engagement, and ownership of learning.
Family Partnership & Professional Collaboration
Build strong, trusting relationships with students and families through consistent, culturally responsive communication about student learning and progress.
Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, and school leaders to strengthen instruction and contribute to shared student outcomes.
Engage in ongoing coaching, feedback, professional learning, and reflection to continuously improve instructional practice and advance equitable student outcomes.
