Description
JOB SUMMARY
WT Burnett is a polyurethane foam manufacturer. As the only Maintenance team member on site during the second shift, the Maintenance Technician II is responsible for keeping foam fabrication, chemical chilling, and grinding equipment running safely and reliably until first shift arrives. The Maintenance Technician II will troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical hydraulic, and pneumatic problems without on-shift backup and decides when to repair, when to make equipment safe and hand off to first shift, and when to call for help.
EQUIPMENT TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR
- Troubleshoot and repair foam fabrication equipment, including horizontal and vertical saws, band knives, contour cutters, and cutting tables; change and track blades, guides, belts, and bearings.
- Maintain the chemical chilling/temperature-conditioning system - chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, sensors, and piping, keeping chemical temperatures within ranges set by Production.
- Maintain and repair the foam grinder, conveyors, blowers, dust collection, and material-handling equipment.
- Diagnose 120/240/480V circuits, three-phase motors, starters, and VFDs; read schematics and basic PLC/HMI fault screens.
- Repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems: cylinders, valves, pumps, regulators, and air lines.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND CMMS
- Complete assigned second shift PM work orders: lubrication, inspections, belt and blade changes, filter changes, and chiller checks.
- Document every job in Fiix (labor, parts, failure cause, corrective action) and close work orders before end of shift.
- Report low spare-parts levels and recommend critical spares.
LONE-WORKER SAFETY AND SHIFT HANDOFF
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), safety protocols, chemical safety, and PPE guidelines at all times - with no exceptions when working alone.
- Follow site lone-worker check-in procedure and after-hours call-out list; defer any task that needs second person to day shift.
- Respond to fire, chemical, chiller, compressed-air, and utility alarms per emergency procedures.
- Give written end-of-shift report and verbal handoff to day shift covering breakdowns, open work, parts needs, and safety concerns.
- Work with second shift Production leads to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
- Keep work areas, tools, shop, and equipment clean, organized, and free of foam dust and debris.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Second shift downtime: equipment restored or made safe with clear handoff before first shift.
- Complete all assigned second shift PM work orders on time and close all work orders in Fiix before end of shift.
- Maintain zero recordable safety incidents and report all near misses promptly.
THIS POSITION IS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY WORKING FROM 4:00 PM UNTIL 12:30 AM
