About the role
About the company
Our client is a legal services company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Oversee a team of case staff handling a heavy flow of files, working in step with the lawyer already in place. You will answer for team output and service results, and over time take on a broader senior leadership remit.
What you'll do
- Direct, mentor and develop a large group of case staff working through a constant stream of files.
- Align with the lawyer already in the practice on legal positions and file quality, then gradually take on wider responsibility.
- Answer for service results and team measures such as turnaround times, client satisfaction and staff retention, drawing on live performance figures.
- Bring on, orient and develop new employees so capacity grows without weakening legal standards.
- Apply AI software in day-to-day operations to widen what the practice can handle, with a route toward general management and profit responsibility.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Holds a law degree and is licensed to practise in Canada, in active standing with the relevant regulator.
- Track record leading staff or operating a solo or small legal practice.
- Leader first, with strong interpersonal skills and a cooperative approach to sharing leadership.
- An entrepreneurial, hands-on ownership mindset and a stable career history.
- Comfort applying technology and AI software in everyday legal work.
- Able to work in a hybrid model in Toronto, or to be based in Vancouver or Calgary.
Bonus points
- Prior work in a busy caseload setting where accuracy holds up across a very large number of matters.
- Experience in Canadian immigration law.
- Familiarity with recruiting and developing new employees so they become productive quickly.
- Prior experience at a smaller or self-run firm rather than a large corporate setting.
