Instrument Operator
BL Companies is seeking an Instrument Operator to support survey field operations for land development, transportation, energy, and infrastructure projects. Working under the direction of a Survey Crew Chief, this position assists with data collection, construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys while ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Operate survey equipment, including GPS/GNSS receivers, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
- Assist with boundary, topographic, utility, ALTA, and construction stakeout surveys.
- Set up and maintain survey equipment and field control points.
- Collect, record, and verify field data and measurements.
- Assist with construction layout and staking activities.
- Maintain field notes and support data transfer for office processing.
- Follow company safety standards and project-specific requirements.
- Travel to project sites as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0–3 years of survey field experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles and field procedures.
- Experience with GPS and robotic total station equipment preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
