About the role
Be the HR backbone of a small, student focused training college in Sydney
If you are an organised HR administrator who likes keeping records in order, supporting recruitment, and helping a small team run smoothly, this is a remote role where your work directly supports student success.
About the Opportunity
Our client is a Sydney based training college that delivers healthcare, community services, early childhood, and English language courses to around 300 students. Its head office team is small and dedicated, supported by about 25 casual trainers, and its students rate it highly, with more than 200 mostly excellent Google reviews.
As part of a restructure, the college is moving its HR and payroll administration offshore and bringing in a new HR system. You will work directly with the head of the business, keep HR running day to day, and help shape how the new system is set up and used.
What You'll Do
• Keep employee records and files accurate and up to date
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including final pay information
• Support recruitment: post job ads, review CVs, and prepare shortlists
• Track trainer qualifications and certifications and flag upcoming expiries
• Prepare the fortnightly payroll in Xero for approval
• Maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, templates, and processes
• Remind managers when performance reviews are due
• Enter and maintain data in the new HR system as it rolls out
What You Bring
• Experience in HR administration, including employee records and onboarding
• Exposure to recruitment admin such as job ads, CV screening, and shortlists
• Strong organisation, accuracy, and discretion with sensitive information
• Clear written and spoken English with managers and trainers
• Comfortable learning and working in a new HR system
• A service mindset and the ability to prioritise urgent requests
• Nice to have: payroll administration or Xero experience (training provided)
Why You'll Love This Role
• Work directly with the head of the business in a small, close team
• Help set up a new HR system and shape how HR runs
• Meaningful work that supports students in healthcare and community services
• Full time remote work with no daily commute
• Broad HR exposure across recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and policy
