Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Roadmap
- Translate approved business priorities into an integrated engineering roadmap, staffing plan, and realistic delivery commitments.
- Manage and coach technical leads, including an offshore team of about 15 and an onshore team of five developers.
- Provide technical judgment across switch, ATM, and application systems, challenging designs and estimates while drawing on domain experts.
Delivery, Quality & Architecture
- Own engineering delivery, architecture, code quality, testing, secure development, maintainability, and technical debt priorities.
- Set clear application ownership, support escalation, and permanent defect correction across onshore and offshore teams.
- Establish build and deployment automation, release readiness, rollback plans, documentation, and development standards.
Operations & Security Partnership
- Partner with IT Operations on monitoring, capacity, incident response, production changes, recovery validation, and application performance.
- Ensure findings from audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests are prioritized, corrected, and verified.
Project & Vendor Management
- Lead the IT Project Manager to keep plans credible, dependencies visible, and escalations early.
- Manage engineering vendor performance and budget recommendations, and explain delivery tradeoffs, technical risks, and investment needs to the CTO and business leaders.
AI Initiatives
- Partner with the Head of AI & Automation to dedicate engineering capacity to AI initiatives.
- Own production integration, evaluation, technical quality, and support for AI solutions, balancing pilot work with existing commitments.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success managing multiple engineering teams and technical leads, including distributed or offshore development.
- Strong software engineering and architecture background with production transaction systems, APIs, databases, integrations, and release practices.
- Experience improving delivery predictability, quality, production support, team performance, and stakeholder communication.

- Strong architectural judgment with a focus on quality, security, and maintainability.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical tradeoffs, risks, and investment needs to executives and business leaders.
- Ability to balance strategic roadmap planning with hands-on delivery.
- Comfortable owning commitments and resolving dependencies across teams.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for bringing AI and automation into production.
