About the role
Decision-Making:
- Set daily priorities for active maintenance jobs, assign technicians, and determine when to engage internal or external resources to restore equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adjust crew plans, schedules, and overtime to balance workload against available resources and production needs.
- Direct the troubleshooting, repair, and modification approach for area equipment, and stop work when safety, quality, or procedural requirements cannot be met.
- Determine when M3 notifications are required and initiate corrective actions based on maintenance effectiveness, incident findings, and reliability data (M12, MTBF).
- Develop and evaluate technician performance, provide feedback, and determine merit increases and disciplinary actions. The team leader reviews all disciplinary actions; actions beyond First Level (Second Level and Final Warning – Last Chance Agreement) are administered jointly with the team leader.
Essential Function/Major Responsibilities:
- Champion a safety-first culture within the crew: enforce safe work practices and hazard controls, including hazardous waste handling; ensure safety trainings remain current; and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Own the recovery of down equipment in the assigned area by supervising active maintenance jobs to ensure safe, timely, and right-first-time repairs, and provide accurate status and ETA updates to manufacturing, engineering, and management.
- Lead start-of-shift passdowns to review equipment status, open jobs, priorities, and safety concerns; document notes and action items in OneNote.
- Plan, walk down, and schedule long-term maintenance, including PMs, M12s, and M32s; balance the crew schedule against available staffing to ensure technical availability of area tools; and coordinate equipment custody with manufacturing and logistics.
- Lead troubleshooting and analysis of equipment and system malfunctions, collaborating with technicians, operators, engineers, and leadership to define immediate fixes and long-term solutions; coordinate engineering support as needed to accelerate recovery and build technician knowledge.
- Drive equipment reliability by participating in M12 reviews and MTBF meetings with engineering, identifying repeat failures, and initiating M3 notifications and corrective work.
- Lead incident reviews to determine root cause and corrective actions; develop and deliver One-Point Trainings (OPTs) to share lessons learned and prevent recurrence.
- Develop the team: conduct one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews; coach, counsel, and provide timely feedback; set clear, realistic objectives and motivate technicians to achieve them; influence team selection; and resolve conflicts within and between teams.
- Administer technician training by ensuring required trainings are completed and current, PMs are assigned, and training records are maintained. Promote and maintain technician licensing for required State and Federal licenses and certificates.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of maintenance records, including repairs, calibrations, tests, PMs, spare parts, and procedures, and verify on-time PM completion and timely work order closure.
- Enforce compliance with company policies; review and approve technician timecards and ensure accurate timekeeping in SAP and Kronos.
- Leverage company-supported AI tools to automate and streamline maintenance systems, planning, scheduling and reporting, improving the effectiveness and productivity of the organization.
- Track and report equipment status, PM completion, unscheduled overtime, and other maintenance performance measures; escalate issues to fab management when decisions or resources beyond the supervisor’s control are required.
- Lead 5S implementation and sustain 5S standards in work areas and the shop to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workplace.
- Serve as the area expert on SAP-PPM transactions and functions, including year-end and year-start activities to close and generate blanket and statistical work orders.
- Demonstrate professionalism, leadership, and sound decision-making while promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
Position Requirements:
- Associate degree in engineering technology, microelectronics technology, facilities maintenance, electrical/electronic technology, or management, or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree and electrical license preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related industry experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of area equipment and of company manufacturing and engineering processes and procedures, or the ability to acquire it quickly.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technicians, applying technical knowledge to improve troubleshooting effectiveness and equipment utilization.
- Strong safety mindset, with working knowledge of workplace hazards, safe work practices, and hazardous waste handling.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to precise, accurate work and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance manuals, and engineering drawings and sketches; ability to draw sketches and write standard operating procedures, technical documents, and routine reports.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication with the crew, peers, leadership, and internal and external customers.
- Ability to collaborate across functions and work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds, both individually and in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and schedule crew activities.
- Proficiency in basic math, algebra, geometry, and standard engineering formulas.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management software such as SAP-PPM, timekeeping systems such as Kronos, and office software, including OneNote, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
- Proficiency with core Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams); strong competency in, or at minimum a strong aptitude to learn and effectively use, additional company-supported Microsoft 365 and AI tools to drive efficiency and productivity.
