Job Summary:
The Director of Rural Health Activation is responsible for the message, creative, media, and community-facing engagement strategy behind Sharecare’s participation in Georgia’s Rural Enhancement and Transformation of Health (GREAT Health) Program. This role translates AskMD consumer positioning into rural Georgia campaigns that drive platform registration, engagement, and completed wellness activities across rural counties.
Reporting to the Vice President, Rural Health Transformation, the Director will develop a comprehensive market strategy that includes toolkit development, evidence-based best practices to drive engagement, and a marketing metrics dashboard that can be replicated and scaled. The role requires experience driving community engagement at the community level, especially in rural areas, and works closely with the Director of Rural Health Partnerships
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop and own the Georgia AskMD message platform and master creative toolkit, adapting national positioning for rural audiences and for each hospital market.
• Plan and deliver integrated campaigns, including prevention and screening, access and navigation (“Know Before You Go”), and seasonal health campaigns timed to open enrollment and preventive-care windows.
• Own the paid and local media plan, weighted to rural reach: local radio, community newspapers, social media, local cable and connected TV, streaming audio, geo-targeted digital, and paid search.
• Deploy hyperlocal media and patient-facing materials in each hospital market so that creative lands before, not after, local launch.
• Build SMS, text, and CRM activation journeys as a primary channel where broadband and smartphone access are limited.
• Direct which message is used in each county and how creative is adapted for faith, civic, agricultural, and employer networks.
• Maintain one consistent message architecture across paid, earned, hospital, field, and partner channels.
• Manage agencies, creative vendors, and media buyers, including scopes, budgets, and performance.
• Use testing and optimization budgets to reduce cost per registration, and report attribution by channel, including community-messenger versus paid-media lift.
• Ensure all consumer communications meet HIPAA, accessibility, plain-language, and Spanish-language requirements and comply with state program and CMS guidance.
• Support executive communications, DCH-facing materials, and public announcements with the Vice President.
• Document campaign templates and channel benchmarks that can be replicated in additional Georgia markets and other states.
Specific Skills/ Attributes:
• Proven leadership of integrated marketing programs combining paid media, creative, and community channels.
• Strong strategic, creative, and analytical judgment, including channel attribution and optimization.
• Ability to adapt national brand positioning for local, rural, and multicultural audiences.
• Skilled agency and vendor management.
• Exceptional collaboration with field, partnership, and hospital teams.
• Strong writing, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Results-oriented approach with discipline around budgets and timelines.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public health, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of marketing leadership experience, with demonstrated ownership of a combined campaign and media budget of $1 million or more.
• Experience launching place-based or multi-market consumer programs in which adoption depends on local institutions.
• Experience with rural or low-broadband markets, with radio, print, and SMS as primary channels, strongly preferred.
• Healthcare, public health, health plan, or provider marketing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, de-identified reporting, and consumer health privacy requirements.
• Experience with government-funded or public health campaigns preferred.
• Ability to travel regularly throughout Georgia.
