About the role
Your opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).
As a Senior Analyst within Credit Research, you will provide independent research and recommendations on asset-backed commercial paper programs and asset-backed securities held across fixed income and money market portfolios. Your analysis will help portfolio managers and credit committees make informed investment decisions and identify emerging collateral, structural, liquidity, and counterparty risks.
You will evaluate transaction structures, collateral performance, credit enhancement, cash flow waterfalls, and liquidity support; perform modeling, stress testing, and ongoing surveillance; and translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations. You will own assigned coverage, prioritize time-sensitive reviews, and collaborate with portfolio management, trading, risk management, issuers, servicers, rating agencies, and other research partners.
Success requires structured finance expertise, analytical thinking, sound decision-making, clear communication, and adaptability as market conditions, portfolio needs, and research tools evolve. You will also help strengthen research methodologies, data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled surveillance capabilities.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in credit research, structured finance, fixed income analysis, banking, a rating agency, or a related investment discipline
- Working knowledge of asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) programs, including program structure, program-wide and seller-specific credit enhancement, liquidity facilities, asset eligibility and concentration criteria and seller/servicer quality
- Working knowledge of asset-backed securities (ABS) across collateral types, including cash flow waterfalls, credit enhancement, collateral performance, servicer and originator quality, and review of transaction documents and trustee reports
- Ability to develop well-supported credit recommendations and communicate complex findings clearly to portfolio managers, credit committees, and cross-functional partners
- Strong analytical thinking, decision-making, collaboration, and adaptability when evaluating changing market conditions and emerging risks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing cash flow modeling, scenario analysis, or stress testing for structured finance transactions
- Experience with structured finance analytics platforms or credit surveillance systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling capabilities
- Familiarity with data analytics, automation, or AI-enabled research workflows
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
