Construction Laborer

Skillforce is hiring Construction Laborers for ongoing project work at a VA medical center in San Antonio, Texas. As a Construction Laborer, you will be responsible for supporting a plumbing crew on underground pipe work. If you have trench or pipeline experience and reliable transportation, apply now!

Construction Laborer Pay:

• $18.00 per hour.
• W-2 employment with weekly pay.
• Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours in a week.

Construction Laborer Schedule:

• Monday through Friday on day shift, starting at 7:00 AM.
• Standard 8-hour days.
• Saturday work may be needed depending on project demand.
• Steady, ongoing work for dependable laborers.

Construction Laborer Responsibilities:

• Dig and backfill trenches by hand using shovels, picks, and rakes.
• Help the plumbing crew set pipe in the trench for underground lines.
• Handle, move, and stage pipe, fittings, and materials around the work area.
• Compact backfill and keep the trench and work area clean and safe.
• Work alongside plumbers and equipment operators as part of a crew.
• Follow jobsite safety rules and wear the required PPE at all times.

Construction Laborer Qualifications:

• Previous construction, underground utility, pipeline, or trench laborer experience is preferred.
• Plumber helper or pipe layer helper experience is a strong fit.
• Your own PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, a high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots, and gloves.
• Basic hand tools are a plus, such as a round-point shovel, a pick, a digging bar, a rake, and a tape measure.
• Reliable transportation to the site for a 7:00 AM start.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and to bend, kneel, and stand for a full shift.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• OSHA 10 is preferred, and Skillforce can provide the course if you need it.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
