About the role
University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
Department: Pediatrics – Sie Center for Down Syndrome
Job Title: Clinical Sciences Professional (Open Rank)
Position #: 00698427 – Requisition #: 40999
Job Summary: | Established in 2010, the Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children’s Hospital Colorado is one of the leading Down syndrome clinics in the United States. Our world-renowned team of experts provides medical, educational, and therapeutic care that helps children and adolescents with Down syndrome thrive. Through close partnership and collaboration with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation and Linda Crnic Research Institute, the Sie Center is a model for Down syndrome care, combining excellence in clinical care, research, community engagement, advocacy, and education.
In the first 14 years, the Sie Center has served over 2,500 patients from 32 states, Puerto Rico, and 11 countries. Our pediatric specialists work together to provide the best possible collaborative care for children with Down syndrome using a multidisciplinary team-based approach. Our services include evaluation, consultation, and therapies for infants, children, teens, and young adults through the age of 22.
The Sie Center is specifically looking for a Research Coordinator to coordinate a new early development study called Harnessing Opportunities for Mobility and Exploration (HOME). For infants, upright mobility is a primary driver of play with objects and caregivers and exploration, activities that support learning and development. Infants with Down syndrome (DS) have significant delays in achieving upright mobility, reducing access to key learning contexts that impact early social and learning experiences. The Portable Mobility Aid for Children (PUMA) body weight support system allows infants to move freely at a time when they are not yet independently mobile and has the potential to enable the play and social experiences that ensue when infants are upright, moving, and exploring. This would be an in-home study for infants and young children with Down syndrome.
Key Responsibilities: Serve as the Primary Coordinator for the HOME Study, managing day-to-day operations, including participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and retention of infants and young children with Down syndrome. |
Work Location: | Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO. Will require local travel to set up research visits. Mileage will be compensated for travel.
