About the Role
We are seeking a creative, strategic, and collaborative Brand Manager to strengthen the campaigns for Scribner high touch authors and connect our books and authors with more readers. This person will translate each author's brand into compelling campaigns, consistent messaging, and partnerships that build awareness, deepen reader engagement, and drive sales.
Working closely with marketing, editorial, and sales, the Brand Manager will help shape how our books, authors, and imprint are presented across consumer and industry channels.
This individual will also work on focused title campaigns where they'll create ambitious rollouts for frontlist titles across categories in each season.
Key Responsibilities
Develop brand strategy: Define positioning, target audiences, and core messaging for assigned authors, books, series, or publishing initiatives.
Lead integrated campaigns: Plan and execute campaigns across digital advertising, social media, email, retail, events, and partnerships.
Maintain brand consistency: Ensure copy, creative assets, and consumer communications reflect each brand’s voice and visual identity.
Expand readership: Identify opportunities to reach new audiences while strengthening relationships with existing readers.
Build partnerships: Develop relationships with booksellers, influencers, and aligned brands to extend campaign reach.
Coordinate across teams: Align campaign priorities, timelines, and deliverables with internal colleagues and author teams.
Use insights to improve results: Monitor reader behavior, market trends, competitive activity, and campaign performance to inform decisions.
Manage budgets and schedules: Track spending, maintain campaign calendars, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Support long-term growth: Develop initiatives that sustain interest in authors and backlist titles beyond publication.
Qualifications
Three to five years of experience in brand management, consumer marketing, or a related field; publishing, media, or entertainment experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop clear positioning and execute campaigns across multiple channels.
Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong creative judgment and an ability to turn audience insights into effective marketing ideas.
Experience managing budgets, timelines, and multiple projects simultaneously.
Comfort interpreting performance data and making practical recommendations.
A collaborative approach and confidence working with a range of authors and agents.
A strong interest in books, authors, culture, and the ways readers discover their next read.
