About the role
The Baseband Hardware Design Engineer will work on the next generation iPhone and other innovative products. You will be part of a world-class hardware design team, acting as the team's local technical expert at manufacturing sites in China - combining deep hardware engineering expertise with modern AI-assisted workflow creation to drive engineering efficiency, design quality and fast-paced root-cause isolation from early prototype through mass production.
Description
You will collaborate across R&D departments and manufacturing sites to design, build, validate and optimize baseband hardware circuits and complete baseband subsystems for Apple products from initial prototype build through mass production. This role requires proactive cross-functional cooperation with other engineering groups (Silicon, PMIC, Firmware, RF, Production Test, and Quality/Reliability) while designing and leveraging AI tools and data-driven automation across the engineering workflow (domestic and international travel is likely).
Minimum Qualifications
Solid fundamentals in electrical engineering, including analog and digital circuit analysis, power distribution networks (Buck/LDO), clocking architectures, and basic signal/power integrity (SI/PI).
Proven track record in testing, debugging and failure analysis of complex multi-rail embedded hardware subsystems and communication interfaces.
Knowledge and experience in developing, customizing, and using AI/ML workflows for hardware failure analysis or test automation.
Hands-on proficiency with bench test equipment (high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, DMMs).
Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin. Strong analytical mindset, curiosity to explore cutting-edge technologies, and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 5+ years (for Bachelor’s) or 2+ years (for Master’s) of relevant industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting prototype builds (NPI / SMT / FATP) at manufacturing sites, particularly in rapid board-level failure triage, root-cause isolation, and factory test yield improvement.
Knowledge/experience of wireless communication systems (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) is a plus, especially when combined with data-driven system analysis and cross-domain issue correlation.
