This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Backend Developer (Python) – GenAI & LLM Applications based in India.

Join a remote engineering team as a Backend Developer Intern and contribute to building practical, AI-powered applications.
You will develop scalable backend systems, robust APIs, and efficient data pipelines using Python.
The role offers hands-on exposure to Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), including integrations with AI services and intelligent automation tools.
You will collaborate with frontend developers, AI engineers, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
From database optimization to deployment and maintenance, you will gain experience across the backend development lifecycle.
This internship is ideal for fresh graduates and early-career developers eager to strengthen their engineering skills and explore emerging AI technologies.

Accountabilities:

As a Backend Developer Intern, you will help design, build, and maintain reliable backend services while contributing to AI-driven features and real-world software projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
Build, test, and optimize RESTful APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
Integrate third-party services and AI/LLM providers into backend applications.
Design and manage databases, write efficient SQL queries, and improve application performance.
Develop backend functionality for AI-powered features, including chatbots, AI agents, and document-processing workflows.
Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and AI engineers to deliver complete solutions.
Participate in the deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of backend systems.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following software engineering best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement by exploring new technologies and applying them to practical development challenges.

Requirements:

We welcome freshers and early-career developers with 0–2 years of experience who have a solid foundation in Python and backend development. Relevant personal projects, internships, and hands-on experience are valued. Candidates should demonstrate the following skills and qualities:

Strong proficiency in Python and a good understanding of programming fundamentals.
Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
Hands-on experience with at least one backend framework, such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
Good understanding of SQL databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Knowledge of backend architecture, software design principles, and basic system design.
Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
Basic understanding of cloud platforms and application deployment processes.
Awareness of authentication, authorization, caching, and backend security practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a sense of ownership.
Ability to learn independently, collaborate effectively, and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Genuine curiosity about Generative AI, LLMs, and practical technology solutions.

The following skills are considered advantageous:

Project or internship experience involving Generative AI and Large Language Models.
Familiarity with AI APIs from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini.
Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and embeddings.
Basic knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments.
Familiarity with React or other modern frontend frameworks.
Exposure to message queues, background jobs, or event-driven architectures.
