Overview of Role
Reporting directly to the Global Head of Marketing, the Associate Director, Marketing Transformation is a senior member of the Marketing leadership team and a key partner to the Global Head of Marketing. This is a broad and highly influential role with a clear mandate: drive the transformation of the function, defining what ‘great’ looks like, building the operating model to get there and driving the organisation through the change required to achieve it. You own the transformation roadmap that will take the marketing function to where it needs to be. You will establish and continuously improve the operating model for Marketing — creating the processes, governance, planning rhythms, reporting structures and ways of working that enable a global team to execute with greater clarity, accountability and pace. You don't wait to be told what needs fixing; you see it and you move. You bring clarity to complexity, translate decisions into action, and close loops — evvery time. This is not an administrative Chief of Staff role, nor a traditional Marketing Operations role focused primarily on technology. We are looking for someone who moves comfortably between strategy and execution: helping define how the function should operate and ensuring those disciplines become embedded in how the team works every day.
Main Responsibilities
Marketing Operating Model & Execution Excellence
- Design, implement and continuously improve the Marketing operating model, ensuring clear accountability, decision-making, governance and ways of working across the function.
- Establish the core operating cadence for Marketing, including leadership meetings, business reviews, quarterly planning, performance reviews and crossfunctional forums.
- Implement consistent processes for how initiatives are prioritised, planned, resourced, executed and reviewed.
- Establish clear standards and frameworks for briefs, project plans, objectives, milestones, dependencies, risk management and post-programme reviews.
- Drive adoption of these disciplines across the Marketing organisation and cross functional teams, ensuring processes improve execution.
- Identify operational friction and proactively simplify or redesign processes to improve the speed and quality of execution.
Planning, Prioritisation & Resource Management
- Be the operational point-person for the Marketing annual and quarterly planning processes in partnership with the Global Head of Marketing and Marketing leadership team.
- Maintain an integrated view of Marketing's strategic priorities and major programmes, ensuring dependencies, risks and resource constraints are surfaced early.
- Support the Global Head of Marketing and leadership team in making prioritisation and resource-allocation decisions.
- Partner with Finance and Marketing leaders on budget planning, forecasting and ongoing budget governance.
- Ensure the organisation remains focused on the highest-impact activities and has the discipline to stop or deprioritise work where appropriate
Performance Management & Reporting
- Partner with the Revenue Operations team to establish and maintain consistent dashboards, scorecards and reporting that provide meaningful insight into Marketing performance.
- Partner with Marketing functional leaders and analytics teams to improve the quality, consistency and actionability of Marketing data.
- Support the Head of Marketing in preparing executive and Board reporting — translating complex Marketing activity and performance into clear, concise and commercially relevant narratives.
- Ensure performance discussions lead to decisions and actions, not simply reporting
Chief of Staff to the Global Head of Marketing
- Act as a trusted strategic and operational partner to the Global Head of Marketing, helping translate priorities into action across the Marketing organisation.
- Ensure the Global Head of Marketing and Marketing leadership team remain focused on the most important strategic and operational priorities.
- Prepare and structure key leadership discussions, ensuring decisions, owners and follow-up actions are clear.
- Help improve communication and alignment between the Marketing leadership team and the wider organisation.
Strategic Initiatives & Transformation
- Programme -manage high-priority initiatives that cut across Marketing functions or require coordination with Sales, Product, Customer, Finance and other teams.
- Support the evolution and maturation of the Marketing organisation, including changes to structure, capabilities, processes and ways of working.
- Drive initiatives through to completion, constructively challenging where momentum, ownership or execution discipline is lacking.
Requirements
Desired Experience
- Significant experience operating in a senior Marketing role, ideally within a global B2B technology or SaaS organisation.
- Demonstrable experience building or materially improving the operating model of a complex function.
- Strong experience leading annual and quarterly business planning, prioritisation and performance-management processes.
- Experience developing executive-level reporting and communicating effectively with C-suite stakeholders.
- Strong programme-management capability, with a track record of driving complex, cross-functional initiatives from definition through to execution.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with budgets, resource allocation and business performance.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn data and complexity into clear insights, recommendations and decisions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create concise, executive-ready materials.
What Success Looks Like Within your first 12 months:
- Marketing has a clear, documented and rigorously followed operating model.
- Annual and quarterly planning is structured, integrated and linked clearly to company priorities.
- The Marketing leadership team has a consistent operating cadence with clear accountability for decisions and actions.
- The Head of Marketing and leadership team have a reliable, concise view of Marketing performance, priorities, risks and investment.
- Executive and Board reporting clearly communicates Marketing's contribution to business outcomes.
- Major Marketing initiatives have clear ownership, milestones and governance and are delivered with greater predictability.
- Cross-functional stakeholders experience Marketing as an increasingly disciplined, transparent and commercially focused organisation
