Aquatics Director - Deaconess Aquatic Center

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Aquatics Director at the Deaconess Aquatics Director will manage the lifeguard team, oversee training programs, ensure compliance with certification standards. The position will manage outreach community swim lessons. This position requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to maintain high level of safety and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain appropriate boundaries with consumers in accordance with YMCA policies and standards of conduct.
2. Complete all required abuse risk management training.
3. Follow established procedures for supervising consumers and managing high-risk activities.
4. Promptly report suspicious or inappropriate behavior and policy violations through established reporting procedures.
5. Comply with all mandated abuse reporting requirements.
6. Ensure programs and services meet community needs by overseeing existing activities, developing new offerings, and expanding programming as appropriate. Assist with marketing and promoting programs to increase awareness and participation.
7. Assist with daily pool operations to ensure compliance with state, local, and YMCA health and safety requirements. Coordinate and verify proper pool maintenance, and maintain accurate records.
8. Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and coach staff. Provide ongoing feedback, conduct annual performance evaluations, and address performance concerns through established disciplinary procedures.
9. Conduct lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR training. Ensure staff certifications remain current and certification records are accurate and complete.
10. Manage daily administrative responsibilities, including developing and monitoring the department budget to achieve fiscal objectives.
11. Develop and coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all programs, events, and activities.
