Responsibilities & Objectives
Reporting to Elemica’s Director of Financial Operations and working closely with the Controller, this role owns Elemica’s day-to-day accounts receivable: collections, dispute resolution and customer account health. We’re looking for someone who understands how the business works, not just how to work the process. You’ll use AI, automation and data tools to work smarter, spot gaps, and take on broader Finance Operations projects as you grow.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the AR portfolio end-to-end, including past-due follow-up, disputes, short-pays and unapplied cash
- Look past the overdue invoice to the business reason behind it, such as a renewal in progress, a service issue or a billing error, and route it to the right fix
- Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) and automation to draft customer outreach, summarize account history, reconcile data and cut manual work
- Build and maintain AR reporting, including aging, DSO and collections trends, in Excel and Sage Intacct
- Identify repetitive tasks, then propose and implement better ways to do them, such as templates, workflows and integrations
- Maintain accurate customer records and documentation in the ERP
- Manage customer vendor portals and registrations
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success and Billing to resolve account issues; escalate early
- Review contracts to confirm billing and payment terms
- Help write and update SOPs as processes change
- Support broader Finance Operations projects as your scope grows
What You’ll Need
- 3–5+ years of experience in AR, collections, billing, or another finance/accounting operations role
- Business acumen: you understand how core functions such as Sales, Billing, Customer Success and Finance connect, and how AR affects revenue, cashflow and customer relationships
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in your work, with real examples you can share (Claude preferred)
- Strong Excel skills, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and pivot tables; Power Query a plus
- Ability to learn new systems quickly; ERP experience a plus, especially Sage Intacct
- A process-improvement mindset: you see a manual task and ask, “Why are we doing it this way?”
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Self-directed, able to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Curiosity about the broader business, not just Accounts Receivable
Nice to Have
- SaaS billing experience
- Experience with BI or reporting tools, such as Power BI
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
