About the role
Description
Bring your accounting expertise to an established spa and salon business. milk + honey is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a small team and manage day-to-day accounting.
What You’ll Do
- Own month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and consolidated GAAP financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash reconciliations, and deferred revenue from gift cards and memberships.
- Support payroll accounting, review commissions, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare multi-state sales tax returns and coordinate with external tax professionals.
- Manage inventory accounting and fixed asset records.
- Strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and support audits or financial reviews.
- Lead and develop your team while staying involved in daily operations.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–2 years leading a team.
- Experience with month-end close, GAAP, multi-entity accounting, and consolidated reporting.
- Strong knowledge of AP, AR, payroll accounting, and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Preferred
- CPA designation or progress toward certification.
- Experience with deferred revenue accounting.
- Experience preparing multi-state sales tax returns.
- Accounting experience in a multi-location business.
- Familiarity with Zenoti or Domo.
