About the role
Anesthesiologist (MD / DO)
Sky Lakes Medical Center | Klamath Falls, Oregon
$560,000 Base Package | Up to $100K Sign-On | 13 Weeks Away | Collaborative Care Model
If you became an anesthesiologist to practice broad-spectrum, high-acuity medicine without the rigid bureaucracy and burnout of an urban hospital factory, your next career chapter is right here.
Sky Lakes Medical Center is seeking three full-time Anesthesiologists to join a cohesive, collegial anesthesia team in Southern Oregon. Designed around an independent 1099 contractor structure, this role offers the ultimate trifecta rarely found together: top-tier earning potential, true clinical autonomy, and 13 protected weeks away annually to live and recharge in the sunny Pacific Northwest.
Here, "collegial" is not a buzzword. You will step into an independent, community-owned teaching hospital where your clinical voice matters, your CRNA partners practice at full scope, and an expanding department naturally opens doors to long-term clinical leadership.
The Opportunity: Independent Scope & Balanced Cadence
Experience the best of both worlds: procedural variety across acute hospital and outpatient settings paired with an equitable, sustainable workflow.
-
The Team Model & Culture: We operate a genuine, high-trust collaborative model. Our skilled CRNAs practice at full scope, while physicians rotate seamlessly between complex scheduled cases, float backup, and CRNA mentorship.
-
Expanding Department: To support robust regional healthcare growth, our team is intentionally expanding from 3.5 MDs and 1.5 CRNAs toward an optimized target footprint of 4 Anesthesiologists and 6 CRNAs.
-
Diverse Case Mix: Broad-spectrum clinical practice including General Surgery (high-volume endoscopy), Orthopedics, Spine, Vascular, Urology, GYN, ENT, Podiatry, Level III Trauma, Healthy Pediatrics, and a strong emphasis on ultrasound-guided Regional Anesthesia.
-
Obstetrics Coverage: Support our modern 12-bed Family Birthing Center, managing approximately 600 deliveries per year.
-
Surgical Facilities: Coverage spans the Main Hospital OR suites, a dedicated Labor & Delivery OR, and our contemporary Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) located conveniently just across the street. A built-in daily float physician smoothly bridges cases between the main OR and ASC.
-
Manageable Daily Volume: Pacing is built for quality care, averaging 3–6 main OR cases or 8–12 endoscopy cases per provider per day.
Schedule & Call: Engineered for Longevity (39 On / 13 Off)
Protect your energy with a predictable, transparent scheduling template designed to eliminate burnout:
-
39 Weeks On / 13 Weeks Off: Build your year around 39 clinical weeks and a massive 13 weeks of time away.
-
Equitable 1:5 Call Rotation: Call totals up to 6 days per month (including at least one weekend). On weekdays, CRNAs handle primary first call while MDs serve as expert second/backup call.
-
Post-Call Protection: Pager call after 5:00 PM is paired with a guaranteed post-call day off.
-
A Typical Clinical Week:
-
Monday: Scheduled cases (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
-
Tuesday (Call Day): Scheduled cases or float backup; pager call begins after 5:00 PM
-
Wednesday: OFF (Guaranteed post-call recovery day)
-
Thursday: Scheduled cases (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
-
Friday: Scheduled cases (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
-
-
Weekend Call Rotation: Alternating first/second call structure (e.g., 1st call Friday, 2nd call Saturday, 1st call Sunday), followed by Monday off.
