About the Role
The Senior Designer, TP leads the development and maintenance of multiple Store Planning drawing files and documents through the Design Development phases, with a focus on complex projects. This role drives design quality, process improvements, project execution, and team capability development while ensuring alignment with Target’s store planning guidelines and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of Store Planning drawings, layouts, and documentation, particularly for complex projects.
- Partner with cross-functional business stakeholders to ensure deliverables comply with Target’s guidelines and standards and are completed with the required quality within agreed timelines.
- Lead complex projects, quality assurance activities, guideline updates, and project-specific training.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead 2–3 workstreams or special projects while managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Lead processes, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members; support skill assessments and program management.
- Work independently with limited direction, effectively managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Interpret and communicate the company’s strategic direction and translate senior leadership expectations into actionable plans.
- Present project updates, design recommendations, and critical issues to senior stakeholders, including executive management.
- Demonstrate strong design judgment, creativity, strategic thinking, and analytical skills, particularly in total store space allocation and planning.
- Apply strong planning, design, presentation, and project management skills across 4–5 relevant programs.
- Influence stakeholders, build consensus across large groups, and lead cross-functional and cross-level teams.
- Develop project schedules, prioritize workloads, and maintain high standards of quality and productivity in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Architecture or Engineering, with 7–9 years of relevant work experience.
- Relevant experience in Indian and/or international retail environments.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and Revit/SketchUp.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Competency in the Imperial Measurement System.
- Strong project planning, design, presentation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and deliver high-quality work within timelines.

- Experience in team and talent management.
- Experience training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
- Experience leading complex projects, cross-functional workstreams, and process improvement initiatives.
