About the role
Build the next-generation DevOps platform for airline software – Gothenburg
Jeppesen Foreflight is one of the largest software development companies in Gothenburg. We develop and implement advanced Crew and Operations Management solutions used by several of the world’s leading airlines. From smarter crew scheduling to better aircraft utilization, our software systems make a real impact on global travel.
At Jeppesen’s office in central Gothenburg you will work in a one-of-a-kind software development organization with solutions that make a real difference to people around the world. You will be working in an agile learning organization, surrounded by a team of talented, creative and dedicated colleagues. You will learn and broaden your perspective by working with 400 professionals from more than 50 different nations but also be part of a global organization allowing for collaboration with customers and colleagues across the world. Most importantly, you will be expected to make a difference.
Be part of the migration of our product configuration platform from a self-hosted GitLab instance on AWS to a modern GitHub-based solution. This platform is where every airline customer’s product configuration is hosted, built, tested and deployed. As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer, you will design it, own key technical decisions and make it better for the customer configuration engineers who use it every day.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with a high level of responsibility and real influence on technical direction. It does not include people management.
About Jeppesen ForeFlight
Jeppesen ForeFlight is one of the largest software development companies in Gothenburg. We develop and implement advanced Crew and Operations Management solutions used by several of the world’s leading airlines. From smarter crew scheduling to better aircraft utilization, our software makes a real impact on global travel.
You will work in our central Gothenburg office, in an agile learning organization with talented, creative and dedicated colleagues. We are 400 professionals from more than 50 nations, and part of a global organization that offers collaboration with customers and colleagues across the world.
The role
In this central role, you will develop and maintain our Configuration Environment together with a dedicated team of software engineers. The Configuration Environment is a collection of programs and services that gives every customer a standardized, scalable foundation for their product configuration. It is the platform used to host, build, test and deploy each customer’s Jeppesen product configuration, and it is essential to scaling our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for day-of-operations.
Our current focus is the next-generation DevOps solution, migrating from a self-hosted GitLab instance running across multiple virtual machines in AWS to a GitHub-hosted solution. You will design and implement a GitHub-based setup that achieves parity with the existing configuration environment while improving the user experience in several ways. The work includes writing GitHub workflows, Bash scripts and Python scripts, and integrating with AWS to deploy product systems.
Collaboration and helpfulness are at the heart of our culture. We work closely with internal customers, other development teams and airline customers.
The role is broad. It covers CI/CD, infrastructure, security, scripting and developer experience, and you will move comfortably between design, hands-on implementation and troubleshooting.
The challenge
- Migrate a platform that has to keep running. Move our configuration environment from self-hosted GitLab on AWS to GitHub, achieving parity with the existing setup while improving the experience for its users.
- Standardize at scale. Design one platform that serves many airline customers, each with their own product configuration, without losing consistency, security or speed.
- Build security into the CI/CD process. Make security a built-in part of our pipelines and environments, so that every build and deployment is secure by default.
What you will do
- Shape the technical ecosystem. Use your DevSecOps expertise to automate and improve the user experience of the Configuration Environment, with robust containerized environments and seamless, secure CI/CD pipelines.
- Own design and architecture. Take responsibility for key design decisions, make them with clear reasoning, and influence the technical direction of the platform.
- Take initiative. Identify problems and opportunities, propose solutions and drive them to completion.
- Solve complex problems. Apply a sharp analytical approach to directly impact product success, and use AI where it is effective.
- Raise the bar for the team. Share your knowledge and mentor colleagues, and help the team improve continuously.
- Collaborate across boundaries. Use strong communication skills to connect your team with the wider organization and with customers.
- Drive innovation. Work in an empowered, autonomous and high-performing agile team.
What we are looking for
Must have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A foundation in classic software development engineering (architecture, design, OO, etc.)
- 10+ years of professional experience in software or DevOps engineering

- 8+ years of experience with Python (scripting)
- 6+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines
- 3+ years of experience with GitHub workflows/actions
- 5+ years of experience with containers (Docker and Kubernetes)
- 5+ years of experience with AWS and cloud environments in general
- A proven track record of taking clear initiative and driving new ideas from proposal to result
