About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-level Kotlin/Java Developer based in Brazil.
In this role, you will develop and maintain backend services for digital products supporting one of Brazil’s largest banking institutions. You will contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle, from designing and implementing new features to testing, production deployment, ongoing support, and continuous improvement. Working with Kotlin, Java, and modern software architecture practices, you will help build scalable, reliable, and maintainable microservices. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and client stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions. Your work will also contribute to application performance, observability, and system reliability through effective testing, monitoring, and metrics. Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Kotlin, Java, and object-oriented programming principles, contributing to the full software development lifecycle.
- Participate in feature conception, technical design, implementation, testing, production deployment, application support, and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable microservices using established architectural patterns and software engineering best practices.
- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Code principles, and Hexagonal Architecture to improve code quality and maintainability.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, to support reliable data storage, retrieval, and processing.
- Develop and maintain APIs and backend integrations using HTTP/HTTPS protocols, Swagger documentation, and established development standards.
- Write and maintain unit, functional, and performance tests in accordance with team guidelines and quality expectations.
- Investigate and resolve bugs, production incidents, and technical issues within appropriate timeframes, identifying root causes and proposing lasting improvements.
- Instrument applications to collect performance data, logs, and metrics, using tools such as SonarQube and Grafana to support observability and reliability.
- Collaborate with developers, other technical specialists, and client stakeholders to align priorities, solve problems, and deliver product objectives.
- Follow established client policies, technical standards, security requirements, and development processes.
- Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering practices and delivery quality.
- Professional experience in backend software development using object-oriented programming languages, particularly Java and Kotlin.
- Familiarity with JavaScript for Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) development.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and the principles of building scalable, maintainable backend applications.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including TDD, DDD, Clean Code, and Hexagonal Architecture.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS protocols and API development and integration.
- Experience using Git for version control, Git Flow for branching strategies, and Swagger for API documentation.
- Ability to write and maintain unit, functional, and performance tests in line with established quality standards.
- Familiarity with application monitoring, performance instrumentation, logs, and metrics, including tools such as SonarQube and Grafana.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate defects, resolve incidents, and recommend effective technical improvements.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with teammates and client stakeholders.
- Proactivity, accountability, attention to quality, and a commitment to following defined policies and processes.
- A continuous learning mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving technical requirements and development practices.
- Experience with Spring Boot and/or Javalin.
- Familiarity with NoSQL database technologies.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
- Exposure to Apigee Hybrid, Google Cloud Platform, Node.js, and AWS.
