About Us
Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. About the Role
Working closely with the Head of Investment Talent, this individual will help build and execute initiatives that strengthen how investors develop, perform, and expand their impact at Wellington. The role combines strategic thinking and design with hands-on implementation and ongoing ownership of related processes.
This person will contribute to shaping and advancing the investment talent strategy, helping translate the vision into practical frameworks, recommendations, and processes—gathering information, identifying patterns, drawing initial conclusions, and developing thoughtful proposals for discussion and refinement. They will be expected to build a strong understanding of the broader vision and use that understanding to advance work with increasing independence.
The work will span the broader investment ecosystem, including investor roles and capabilities, engagement and operating models across investment and partner teams, hiring and assessment, compensation, and the tools and resources that support investors. This individual will help design and connect these elements so that responsibilities, processes, and incentives reinforce one another and support the broader investment talent strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Turn strategic direction into substantive proposals. Translate broad objectives into concrete questions and workplans, and develop initial frameworks, recommendations, and tools for review and refinement with the Head of Investment Talent.
- Research, synthesize, and draw conclusions. Gather information through stakeholder discussions, existing materials, and relevant data; identify patterns and gaps; and explain what the findings suggest and where further work is needed.
- Help develop frameworks and operating models. Help shape how roles, responsibilities, engagement models, incentives, and resources support investment success. Develop practical structures that clarify expectations and strengthen how investment and partner teams work together.
- Develop and implement initiatives. Move initiatives from concept through detailed design, stakeholder feedback, implementation, and ongoing execution. Build support for adoption, maintain momentum, and resolve issues along the way.
- Connect related work. Understand how hiring, assessment, development, compensation, and other initiatives fit together, and identify where approaches need to be aligned or adapted.
- Build effective partnerships across teams. Work with investment and partner teams to understand needs, incorporate different perspectives, and coordinate contributions. Identify dependencies and bring forward questions or trade-offs that require discussion.
- Take ownership of ongoing processes. Manage processes over time, coordinate contributions, maintain high-quality outputs, and assess whether they are achieving their intended purpose. Recommend improvements based on feedback and experience.
- Prepare clear materials and support decisions. Develop concise analyses, discussion materials, and recommendations that make the underlying thinking, open questions, and proposed next steps easy to assess.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Conceptual thinking and framework development. Brings structure to ambiguous questions and develops useful frameworks that organize information and support decisions.
- Analytical judgment and synthesis. Goes beyond summarizing information to draw reasoned conclusions, identify implications, and form an initial point of view.
- Strategic understanding. Grasps the broader vision, connects individual workstreams to it, and recognizes when a proposed approach may need to be reconsidered.
- Intellectual curiosity and learning agility. Learns quickly, asks incisive questions, and seeks to understand how investors work and what enables them to succeed.
- Initiative and drive. Proactively advances work, anticipates next steps, and brings proposed solutions and recommendations to discussions.
- Autonomy with sound judgment. Works independently within agreed direction, seeks input at useful points, and recognizes decisions that require broader discussion.
- Creativity and practical problem-solving. Generates thoughtful ideas and translates them into approaches that are useful and workable.
- Organization and execution. Manages multiple priorities, maintains attention to detail, and follows work through from initial analysis to implementation and ongoing ownership.
- Process design and improvement. Translates ideas into practical, repeatable processes with clear ownership and handoffs, and refines them based on feedback and experience.
- Clear communication and collaboration. Expresses ideas succinctly, explains the reasoning behind recommendations, and works effectively with colleagues across functions and levels.
- Receptiveness to feedback. Incorporates direction thoughtfully, adapts their approach, and uses feedback to deepen their understanding of the intended outcome.
- Discretion and professionalism. Handles sensitive investor and talent information with care and builds trust through sound judgment and reliable follow-through.
