About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Database Team Lead to lead our database and data engineering team, ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of our data platforms.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills to drive database strategy, optimize data architecture, and support business intelligence, analytics, and real-time data requirements.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of database engineers and database administrators.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions.
- Manage and optimize SQL databases and cloud data platforms.
- Oversee database performance tuning, monitoring, backup, recovery, and high availability.
- Lead data integration initiatives, including ETL/ELT pipelines and real-time data ingestion.
- Establish database standards, governance, security policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with software engineering, data engineering, analytics, and business teams.
- Plan and deliver database projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely execution.
- Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend improvements to the existing data architecture.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in database administration, database engineering, or data platform management.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database technologies.
- Experience with cloud data platforms.
- Understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration.
- Experience with database performance optimization, security, and disaster recovery.
- Previous experience leading a technical team or managing database-related projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
