Scrum Master / Delivery Lead - Anaplan

About the Role 

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master / Delivery Lead with Anaplan experience to join our Global Sales Planning - Territory & Quota (T&Q) Product Team. 

The T&Q product supports global sales planning, territory management and quota setting for approximately 5,000 sellers globally. 

The team is transitioning from project-based delivery to a product operating model, with a two-week sprint cadence managed through Jira. 

The team already has dedicated Product Owner and Technical Lead / Solution Architect roles. The Scrum Master / Delivery Lead will work alongside both roles, enabling team effectiveness through coaching, facilitation, delivery discipline and continuous improvement. 

The ideal candidate will bring strong Scrum and delivery facilitation together with sufficient Anaplan knowledge to understand the team's work, support effective delivery discussions and help remove impediments without taking ownership from the Product Owner, Technical Lead or delivery team. 

Role Purpose 

The primary purpose of this hybrid Scrum Master / Delivery Lead role is to enable and lead effective delivery. The role combines Agile coaching and facilitation with clear delivery accountability, working with the team to achieve agreed outcomes. The Delivery Lead owns the integrated delivery plan, release calendar, delivery governance and operating rhythm, while product direction remains with the Product Owner and technical solution design remains with the Technical Lead / Solution Architect. 

You will establish and continuously improve the team's Agile ways of working, support effective Scrum events, facilitate backlog and technical refinement, keep decisions and actions visible, coordinate the resolution of dependencies and blockers, and escalate systemic delivery risks early. 

Your Anaplan experience will allow you to work credibly with the Product Owner, Technical Lead, model builders, testers, data teams and business stakeholders while preserving clear role boundaries and team self-management. 

Scrum & Agile Delivery 

• Coach the team in practical Agile and Scrum practices and reinforce agreed Ready and Done standards. 

• Facilitate a consistent two-week sprint cadence, including sprint planning, daily Scrum, backlog refinement, sprint reviews and retrospectives. 

• Help the team establish a clear Sprint Goal and make realistic forecasts based on capacity, readiness and constraints. 

• Keep sprint progress, decisions, actions, blockers and dependencies visible. 

• Drive or coordinate blocker resolution and escalate systemic delivery risks when required. 

• Protect the team from unnecessary disruption while supporting the Product Owner in managing scope and priority changes. 

• Build team self-management, collaboration and accountability rather than assigning daily work. 

• Use delivery metrics for learning and improvement, not individual performance assessment. 

Jira & Delivery Governance 

• Promote Jira as the system of record for planned and in-progress delivery work. 

• Establish practical Jira standards for stories, tasks, defects, dependencies, technical work and releases. 

• Reinforce accurate, current work data and appropriate Jira data hygiene across the team. 

• Maintain dashboards and reporting that provide reliable visibility of workflow, blockers, ageing work, defects, unplanned work and Sprint Goal progress. 

• Support the Product Owner in ensuring the backlog is sufficiently prepared for upcoming sprints. 

• Make capacity, constraints, dependencies, risks, decisions and actions visible to the team and relevant stakeholders. 

Delivery Coordination 

• Own and maintain the integrated delivery plan across product enhancements, technical work, testing, migration and releases, with active input and support from the Product Owner, Technical Lead and delivery team. 

• Coordinate visibility and resolution of cross-team dependencies among the Product Owner, Technical Lead, model builders, data teams, testers and business stakeholders. 

• Coordinate SIT, UAT, deployment and post-production validation activities, ensuring plans, owners, dependencies, defects, risks, decisions and business sign-offs are actively managed and visible. 

• Own and maintain delivery milestones, the release calendar and release-readiness plan, working with the team and relevant business and technical stakeholders. 

• Escalate delivery risks with clear context, impact and options for consideration. 

Anaplan Delivery Support 

• Understand Anaplan delivery activities sufficiently to identify dependencies, risks and delivery impacts. 

• Facilitate the breakdown and refinement of complex work into clear, executable delivery items; the delivery team remains accountable for estimating and completing the work. 

• Participate in technical discussions where required to understand delivery implications, without owning architecture or technical decisions. 

• Coordinate Anaplan model development, integrations, testing and deployment activities and provide hands-on model-building support when required to protect critical delivery outcomes. 

• Facilitate UAT coordination and defect triage while ensuring business and technical owners retain their accountabilities. 

• Facilitate technical spikes, investigations and production issue coordination from a delivery perspective, ensuring actions are captured and tracked. 

• Understand Anaplan Polaris and ADO-related delivery dependencies. 

Polaris & ADO Delivery 

• Facilitate delivery coordination associated with Polaris and ADO adoption or migration. 

• Own and maintain the integrated delivery plan across assessment, design, build, data, integration, testing, cutover and hypercare, with input and execution support from the appropriate technical and business leads. 

• Track dependencies, milestones, risks, decisions and actions and drive blocker resolution. 

• Facilitate SIT, UAT and deployment-readiness checkpoints. 

• Ensure the appropriate technical and business owners are engaged at each stage. 

• Provide clear, reliable delivery reporting based on current Jira and team data. 

Testing & Release Coordination 

• Facilitate clear delivery checkpoints for SIT, UAT and production deployment. 

• Coordinate defect-triage discussions across business, model, integration and data teams. 

• Track and actively manage test progress, outstanding defects, decisions, risks and business sign-offs, working with accountable owners to drive execution and approval. 

• Facilitate release-readiness meetings and ensure actions are assigned to the appropriate owners. 

• Ensure deployment, rollback and support plans are documented by the accountable technical and business owners. 

• Facilitate post-deployment validation and closure. 

Team Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement 

• Establish working agreements that strengthen self-management, collaboration and delivery discipline. 

• Run meaningful retrospectives and track agreed improvement actions to completion. 

• Help the team identify recurring delivery problems and address root causes. 

• Improve workflow, predictability, quality, transparency and collaboration. 

• Coach team members on practical Agile delivery principles. 

• Help the team maintain a healthy balance across planned product work, technical work, defects and production support. 

Clear Role Boundaries 

This is a hybrid Scrum Master / Delivery Lead role. The role works closely with the Product Owner, Technical Lead and delivery team and shares responsibility with the team for successful delivery. It owns delivery planning, release coordination, delivery governance and delivery visibility, while not replacing the Product Owner's accountability for value and priority or the Technical Lead's accountability for architecture and technical decisions.

Delivery leadership and shared accountability with the team; integrated delivery-plan and release-calendar ownership; Scrum facilitation; Jira quality; dependency, impediment and risk management; delivery governance; continuous improvement; and hands-on Anaplan support when required. 

The Scrum Master / Delivery Lead facilitates and enables decisions, owns the integrated delivery plan and release calendar, and coordinates delivery execution with the team. The role does not own product prioritisation or technical architecture. It may provide hands-on Anaplan model-building support when required, while the delivery team retains collective accountability for quality and completion of the work. 

What We're Looking For 

Essential 

• Proven experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Delivery Lead or similar facilitative role. 

• Strong experience supporting delivery of complex enterprise technology or planning solutions. 

• Hands-on Anaplan experience and a good understanding of Anaplan model development and delivery. 

• Experience working with Jira, including sprint management, workflows, dashboards and reporting. 

• Experience facilitating delivery across development, SIT, UAT and production deployment. 

• Strong dependency, risk and impediment-management skills. 

• Experience working with cross-functional business and technology teams. 

• Strong communication, coaching, facilitation and stakeholder-alignment skills. 

• Ability to bring structure and transparency to a team transitioning toward a product operating model while strengthening team self-management. 

• Understanding of Anaplan Polaris and/or ADO is highly desirable. 

Desirable 

• Certified Anaplan Solution Architect with model-building experience. 

• Certified Master Anaplanner is a plus. 

• Experience with Territory & Quota, Sales Planning or Sales Performance Management. 

• Experience with Anaplan Polaris migration or transformation. 

• Experience with ADO. 

• Experience working with global teams and large-scale planning solutions. 

• Scrum/Agile certification such as PSM or CSM.

The Ideal Candidate 

The strongest candidate will be a delivery-focused Scrum Master who understands Anaplan, can own and drive the delivery plan and release calendar with the team, and can provide hands-on model-building support when required. 

You should be comfortable working in a technically complex Anaplan environment and able to ask informed questions, identify delivery risks, facilitate refinement, coordinate dependencies and enable productive conversations between business and technical teams. 

You will work closely with the Product Owner, Technical Lead and wider team, combining Agile coaching with clear Delivery Lead accountability for planning, coordination, release management, delivery governance and successful outcomes.
